ORAI Fox core members win first prize in OpenHarmony/RISC-V innovation competition
StarSign, a team formed by ORAI Fox core members, won first prize in the intelligent hardware and wearables category of the 2025 Shenzhen OpenHarmony/RISC-V Innovation Application Competition.
The finals of the 2025 Shenzhen OpenHarmony/RISC-V Innovation Application Competition have concluded. StarSign, a team formed by ORAI Fox core members, won first prize in the intelligent hardware and wearables category for its project, “Smart Electronic Nameplates Based on OpenHarmony and RISC-V.”
Recognition in a competitive field
The competition supports innovation across the chip and operating-system stack in Shenzhen. Guided by the municipal industry and information technology bureau, the municipal science and technology innovation bureau and the Longgang District government, it was jointly organized by industry institutions. A total of 164 companies, universities and research teams entered, with 57 teams advancing through multiple rounds of review to the finals. StarSign's first prize reflects the judges' recognition of the project's technical depth, innovation and potential for practical deployment.
OpenHarmony, RISC-V and NearLink
The award-winning project is a core ORAI Fox terminal solution for government and enterprise meetings. Built on OpenHarmony and a RISC-V chip architecture, it combines dual e-paper displays with NearLink wireless connectivity. The project focuses on secure, low-latency communication and interference resistance to keep meeting information synchronized.
The solution supports one-to-many updates, allowing hundreds of nameplates at a meeting to be configured and refreshed together in a short period of time. This approach aims to reduce deployment and maintenance costs as meeting rooms move toward digital workflows.
Contributing to the OpenHarmony ecosystem
From the chip and operating system to the wireless protocol, the solution uses domestically developed core technologies. It aims to help government and enterprise customers reduce dependence on overseas technology supply chains and address information-security and supply-chain requirements. ORAI Fox continues to participate in the OpenHarmony ecosystem and explore deployments in public administration, finance and energy.
Continuing the work
The award marks a milestone for ORAI Fox in smart meeting terminals. The team will continue developing e-paper displays, NearLink communications and meeting applications around OpenHarmony and RISC-V, with the goal of providing reliable, accessible and secure digital meeting infrastructure.
